Humanity and Freedom’ Conference Should Highlight Islam’s Regard for Human Rights

“An international conference on humanity and freedom is precisely what is needed to counter the deluge of lies and exaggerations directed at Iran, intent on subverting Iran and Islam in general. Since 9/11, there has been a constant war declared by US-Israel and its puppet states, the 'collective West', against Islam, which is the sole force in the world today fighting US-Israeli imperialism,” Eric Walberg told the International Committee of the event.

“These conferences should confront this [western-led] campaign of subversion head-on, and calmly delineate how Islam addresses 'human rights', denying the dehumanization entailed in capitalism and imperialism, which operate without any moral code, only profit, conquest, war,” he added.

What follows is the full text of the interview:

Q: An international conference titled “People’s Rights and Legitimate Freedoms in Thoughts” is scheduled for December 2025.  What impact do you believe such a conference could have on the global discourse surrounding human rights and freedoms, and what specific outcomes would you consider indicative of its success?

A: The Americans have raised the flag of human rights. They say, 'We are committed to human rights not only in our country, America, but also in the entire world. In practice, they inflict the most serious harm on human rights and they hurl the biggest insult at human rights in different countries. 'Human rights' is a term that came into vogue in the 1970s with the Helsinki Accords, the result of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe in 1975. The accord was an attempt to bring the capitalist and socialist countries into agreement on moral and ethical issues.

In fact, it was a ruse to interfere in Soviet society, to highlight the greater personal material freedom enjoyed in the rich European imperialist countries, which benefit economically in the world capitalist economy, and enjoy outsized material wealth, in the new post-WWII era of consumerism. The Soviet Union was unable to compete as it was always boycotted and subverted by the West, intent on destroying it. The conspiracy worked, and the Soviet Union was undermined by a subversive 'human rights' campaign, led by Zionist Jews who demanded to emigrate to Israel. This meant a complete loss of 'human rights' by Soviet citizens, who quickly lost everything, all their savings, even as a clique, a dozen Jewish oligarchs, used their 'human rights' to confiscate all Russia's wealth and spirit it abroad.

Iran faces the same western propaganda barrage, distorting Iran's social life, comparing it falsely to western secular society as inferior. Iran is building a Muslim society and looks to the Quran and the ummah for inspiration on individual rights, which are better called 'people's rights', to distinguish the concept from the distorted 'human rights' campaign of the West. Iran and Muslims in general see the individual as embedded in society and religion, rather than an isolated entity, independent and alone in the world. An international conference on humanity and freedom is precisely what is needed to counter the deluge of lies and exaggerations directed at Iran, intent on subverting Iran and Islam in general. Since 9/11, there has been a constant war declared by US-Israel and its puppet states, the 'collective West', against Islam, which is the sole force in the world today fighting US-Israeli imperialism.

These conferences should confront this campaign of subversion head-on, and calmly delineate how Islam addresses 'human rights', denying the dehumanization entailed in capitalism and imperialism, which operate without any moral code, only profit, conquest, war.

Q: “They claim that they are committed to human rights. The Americans have raised the flag of human rights. They say, ‘We are committed to human rights not only in our country, America, but also in the entire world.’ Well, this is a claim. What have they done in practice? In practice, they inflict the most serious harm on human rights and they hurl the biggest insult at human rights in different countries. Their secret prisons throughout the world, such as their prisons in Guantanamo, in Iraq, in Abu Ghraib and their attack on civilians in Afghanistan, Pakistan and in different areas are examples of the Americans' claim to support human rights,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated in a speech in 2013. What are your thoughts on this?

A: The hypocrisy of western leaders means not only they are liars, but they spread their lies to the people they govern. It is virtually impossible to question their lies. Critics of Palestine's genocide are spied upon, arrested, their computers sezied. In the West, only Muslims are immune to the lies, and they face special persecution, assassination, deportation for attempting to exercise basic human rights like freedom to think and act in accordance with our beliefs. Canada has witnessed mass killings in Quebec city (2017, 6 killed), London Ontario (2021, 4 killed), and many other communities. Mosques are vandalized, burned, Muslim women attacked for wearing a head scarf.

Islamophobia long ago took the place of Judeophobia, although hatred of Jews is now accelerating, like it did in the 1920s-30s, when Jews were blamed for Germany's defeat in WWI, after world Jewry was promised Palestine if the 'Allies' (Britain, Europe, US) beat Germany.  Now it is increasing because of Israel's genocide against the Palestinians, blindly supported by the 'collective West', especially the US.

The conspiracy by world Jewry and its 'shabbos goy'* followers succeeded. Germany was defeated in WWI, Palestine became a British protectorate now welcoming Jews from around the world to come and settle on Palestinians' lands. Germans turned angrily against their Jews for their perfidy, but supported the Zionists' project of Eretz (Greater) Israel. The Jews were allowed to come to Palestine and start buying up land with Rothschild's millions. A century of tragedy for Palestinians. A century of murder and theft by Jews from Europe and America, who came as faux conquerors, armed with US weapon, financed by US Zionist leaders, who see Israel as the US's 'unsinkable aircraft carrier in the Middle East'. All this is on the same level of criminality as Hitler's 'final solution' for European Jews, blatant ethnic cleansing and genocide.

The US made a new tactic of 'rendering' suspected terrorists to especially cruel dictatorships such as Syria under Assad, where they were tortured to try to extract information. The US runs an illegal prison in Cuba, Guantanmoa, which it seized in 1903, and where it tortures suspected terrorists. It is astounding that the US can speak about human rights that it so egregiously violates rights not only of its own citizens (the US leads the world in prisoners per capita and has far more prisoners than any other country), but anyone, anywhere. Trump's return to office shows how this contempt for 'human rights' is deeply engrained in Americans' lives. It's as if Trump would like to take possession not just of Greenland, Canada, Panama, but to make the whole world subservient to him personally. Trump embodies the empire, an avatar of capitalist greed and cruelty.

Q: Regarding women’s rights, the Leader has stated, “If we want our outlook towards the issue of women to be healthy, reasonable and precise, the first condition is that we should completely clear our minds of the statements that westerners make about women - about their employment, management and sexual equality. One of the greatest mistakes of western thoughts about the issues of women is this sexual equality. Justice is a legitimate concept, but equality is sometimes legitimate and sometimes illegitimate. Why should we separate an individual who has been built for a particular domain - in terms of one's natural make up, whether physical or emotional - from that particular domain and drag her towards another domain which Allah the Exalted has built for another make-up? Why should we do this? What reason do we have for doing so? What kind of sympathy is this? Why should women be entrusted with carrying out male tasks? What kind of honor is to have women carry out male tasks? I am sorry that sometimes women and ladies themselves show sensitivity over this issue. They ask, "What is our difference with men?" Well, there is no difference between men and women on many issues. Islam looks at men and women as human beings. There is no difference between men and women on the issue of humanity, spiritual positions and the many intellectual and scientific talents that they have. But they have two different molds. Each of these molds is shaped for a particular task. Of course, there are certain common tasks among them. Is it a service if we separate either of these two molds from their domain and put it in another domain? This is what westerners are doing. Many of their international conventions result from this outlook.”  Please share your thoughts on the Leader’s views on women’s rights.

A: Of course, it is ludicrous to equate men and women in all aspects of life. In many ways, women are the opposite of men, in their physical characteristics (weaker, shorter, designed to bear children, longer life span). Evolution has designed men to protect, provide food through use of reason and strength (men's neocortex is larger than women's, indicating greater overall mental capacity). The basic differences are obvious, and subtler differences requires our study and experience to reveal.

Each sex has its own perfection to strive for. At the same time, there is great variety in genetic disposition of both male and female. Some women have more manly characteristics (aggressiveness, career-orientation, intelligence) and can be encouraged for their more manly contribution to society. In the past, this special manly role for outstanding women was often suppressed, though there have been great women leaders/ thinkers such as Khadija bint Khuwaylid (d. 620), Prophet Muhammad's first wife, Nusayba (d. 634), Zaynab bint ‘Alī (d. 681 grand-daughter of the Prophet Muhammad), as well as Joan of Ark (liberated France, d. 1481) and Mme Curie (Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903 and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911, d. 1934) achieved success. But to argue that all women should abandon the care-giving role of reproduction is nonsense.

Sadly, the 'human rights' of capitalism/ imperialism wants people to be 'cogs in the wheel', undifferentiated as much as possible, so that we fit into the machine, male or female. Hence, 'human rights' has come to mean something distorted and obscene: the right to change your sex, to become a man or a woman in defiance of nature and God. And for children to be groomed into believing they can grow up to be whatever sex they like. This masks the real agenda: to create maleable, brainwashed citizens who do what they are told and don't make a fuss.

Meanwhile, life in the family unit has deteriorated even as the project of transgenderism blossoms. But transgenderism is really just a symptom of social degeneracy. Bad parenting can mean that the infant boy doesn't connect properly with his father, and stays inside the mother's control, never achieving true manhood. This is tragic as it is very hard to undo, but is increasingly common in societies with large, anonymous cities and where marriage is weak, divorce high. All efforts should be made in any society that truly believes in 'human rights' to help those boys achieve manhood, to be able to reject their infantile clinging mentally to their mother. Unless helped, such boys become homosexual, and live a half-life, remaining children until they die.

These homosexuals and transgenders are now celebrated in the West as equal to healthy men in the western dystopia where all men and all women are 'equal'. Worse yet, any attempts by psychiatrists or social workers to help these neurotics is illegal. It is considered violating their 'human rights' to try to help them heal. Such 'help' to accommodate their person and social neurosis is satanic. Only Islam has a clear understanding on male-female relations and how to build a healthy society where men and women are respected. There are no meaning to 'human rights' for women if they do not have strong, healthy men to protect and guide them.
